Taketomi Island

This is Taketomi Island, ten minutes by high-speed craft from Ishigaki Island. The islanders are proud of its tradition and lifestyle. They have preserved their housing tradition. As you see above, it is characterized by its red roof tiles and  coral limestone walls. And every house has a very attractive decoration called Shisa on the roof. It is regarded as guardian.

Indian Coral Tree

This is DEIGO in Japanese. It's a tropical tree and this is my first time to find one in our region.  I found one at the Oji Zoo in Kobe. I had a wonderful time with my two grandkids on Sunday.

Dragonfly on Break

Found this dragonfly in the iris garden yesterday. It looked like posing on the iris bud for a couple of minutes.

The rainy season has just started in Osaka. Iris flowers are symbols of this season. I took these pictures at the Shirokita Garden in Osaka city today.

Vegetarian Restaurant

This is a Buddhist vegetarian restaurant near Kodaiji Temple, Kyoto. Its name is Ikkyuan. I don't see red gates so often in Kyoto.
