These are formal foot gears of the wedding attendees. I was happy to find a traditional Shinto-style wedding ceremony at the Itsukushima Shrine in Hiroshima last week.

Really interesting!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
ReplyDeleteWere you a guest or did they just allow you to take photos?
ReplyDeleteI happened to see the ceremony luckily when I visited the shrine. The ceremony is held in the main shrine which other people make a prayer. So anyone can see it.
DeleteWonderful shrine photos--and all that red!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant Red Building
Beautiful pictures. All the red and white and black. So stunning. I have a meme similar to My World about the culture of various places...and I would love if you would link this up there as well, if you would like.

How awesome! What a fun thing to happen across! :)
ReplyDeleteNice pictures. I am wondering who is the guy that put his shoes the other way round before all others.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos, they really capture the occasion
